    Funding for Mission of Mercy and Give Kids A Smile events

    The Patterson Foundation provides grants for state Mission of Mercy (MoM) events across the United States each year. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations classified as public charities by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

    Dental events application process

    The Patterson Foundation makes it easy for you to apply for a grant online. Please read the instructions below before starting the application process.

    Dental event application guidelines

    • Application deadline

      Applications must be submitted at least three months in advance of the event, but not more than eight months in advance.

    • Event requirements

      • All treatment at the event must be provided free of charge without restrictions.
      • All grant funds must be used for the event as specified in the application.
    • Funding restrictions

      • Grants cannot be used to purchase dental supplies or equipment.
      • Funding cannot be used for ADCF rental fees.
      • Organizations cannot receive more than one grant per event.
    • Review process and grant amount

      • Individual grant amounts are $5,000 for 100-chair events and $3,500 for 45-chair events.
      • Applications will only be considered if each Mission of Mercy event has reached at least 50% of its event funding goal.
      • The Patterson Foundation will review grant applications for Mission of Mercy events and decide within 30 days of receipt.
      • The Foundation will mail checks for approved Mission of Mercy grants within 10 days of the decision date.
    • How to apply

      • Create an account in our online grant application system and complete the Mission of Mercy event grant application form.
      • Select one email address and password to be used for all applications.
      • We recommend that you use the email address of the person responsible for administration of the grant. The Patterson Foundation will send all communications to this email address.
    • Follow-up report

      • You will be asked to complete a follow-up report within 60 days after the event.
      • To complete the report, simply log in to our grant application system and find the draft follow-up report assigned to you. Click on the draft to complete and submit the final report.

    Exclusions

    In general, the Foundation will not consider requests for:

    • The types of products or services sold by Patterson Companies, including dental or veterinary supplies, software and equipment (a local branch of a Patterson company may consider donating products)
    • The direct costs of treatment or therapies
    • Organizations primarily funded by state or federal governments
    • Individuals
    • Travel
    • Film/video productions
    • Religious programs for religious purposes
    • Scientific research
    • Fraternal, social, veteran or military organizations
    • Conferences/seminars or publications of their proceedings
    • Fundraising or athletic events
    • Emergency operating support
    • Political advocacy, lobbying
