People-First is one of Patterson Companies’ core values, so it is no surprise that giving back to our communities runs in the DNA of our team. Volunteering nationally and locally, each region is empowered to volunteer in the way the team feels it can best serve its community, whether cleaning up after natural disasters, hosting and helping with dental services or helping a local animal shelter.
Nonprofits we’ve volunteered for include Mission of Mercy, Freedom Service Dogs, FFA, Second Harvest Heartland and more.
Additionally, through our Dollars for Doers program, the Foundation donates $100 for each employee when they volunteer with at least one additional Patterson employee. Yearly, that provides an average of $90,000 to local nonprofits.
You volunteer, we donate
Dollars for Doers
Through its Dollars for Doers program introduced in 2019, the Patterson Foundation donates $100 to a nonprofit organization in which two or more Patterson employees volunteer their time.
Volunteering can include in-person volunteering, virtual volunteering, chaperoning at schools, a 5K, shopping and donating items for a drive, serving on a board of directors, event coordination and skills-based activities like web design, accounting or consulting and more.
Join a work friend, volunteer, and make money for your favorite charity.

How it works
- The Patterson Foundation will donate $100 per employee who volunteers, up to $1,000 per event
- Each activity must be at least two hours in length and include two or more team members.
- There is no limit for the number of times you can volunteer with your peers.
- You can use your VTO or Team Service hours for Dollars for Doers.
- Volunteer activities must be at a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Exceptions include political organizations or places of worship. Clinics, shelters, food banks and social activities sponsored by a religious organization are acceptable.
- For remote employees, contact Allie Krug to request an exception to the two-team members rule.
- Donation drives will receive a $250 donation and 5K, 10K, etc. race participation is limited to $100 per person for up to 10 people.
- For employees who serve in a leadership capacity or on the board of the nonprofit for which the team is volunteering, you’ll need to complete an additional conflict of interest application (takes 30 seconds).
